    Stop the pain cycle
Over the past several decades , neuromuscular therapy (NMT) has emerged as a significant methodology for assessing, treating and preventing soft tissue injuries and chronic pain. NMT, a series of treatment protocols based on the practitioner's skill, anatomy knowledge and precise palpatory application, has found its home, not only in the treatment rooms of massage therapy, but also in occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, dentistry, chiropractic, osteopathic and physical medicine clinics worldwide.

In referrals, doctors often use the expression "sprain/strain". This refers to tiny, little tears in the tissues in which trigger points develop. This causes inflammation which slows down oxygen and blood supply to those particular parts of the body.

Neuromuscular therapy releases those trigger points and helps to stop the pain cycle. Most therapies are covered by insurance and are recommended by the U.S. Medical Massage Association.
